Review
(My review on goodreads)
I liked this, mostly as a reminder that when I read The Stranger I was not bothered, and didn’t even notice, that the murder victim was not given a name, other than “the Arab.” So reading The Meursault Investigation was a kind of compensation. And it was a reminder that in any written work, what is missing is often at least as important as what is included, and that seeing beyond the words and beyond (what is perceived to be) the intended meaning of the work to find the surrounding context is both difficult and vital - and something that I’m not very good at. So thank you Kamel Daoud for helping with that.
