Review

It seems that Chris Hedges is as exasperated as I am with the state of our political system - a system in which political discourse and policy is limited to minor tactical differences between rabidly pro-capitalist ‘right’ and ‘left’, distinguishable (if at all) only in their campaign rhetoric. Hedges is brutal in his survey of American liberalism, going back to Wilson and the first world war and its aftermath - the dawn of the age of mass propaganda, control and exploitation of the media, and harsh repression of political dissent.
